Meet Dave & Michelle

Isaiah 61 Chaplaincy & Ministries was born of a joint desire of Dave and Michele Johnson’s to help the hurting church, minister to first responders and encourage marriages. Dave and Michele were married in July of 1994. We have served in our churches as ushers, Sunday school teachers, greeters and on the security team. We have done speaking in churches when the opportunity has arisen.

Dave has a history in security, working as ATM manager at an armored car company. He also has done private security for special events, was a volunteer firefighter for many years, and is currently a volunteer chaplain with the Sioux Falls and Minnehaha County law enforcement teams. He currently serves as their chaplain instructor.

Michele is a registered nurse at a local hospital as well as a licensed professional counselor-mental health. She works with clients who have been impacted by trauma.

Dave and Michele began their journey helping out in prayer tents at music festivals in Sioux Falls, SD, Missouri and Texas. We have traveled to help train church security teams, first responder chaplains, and offer marriage retreats both to first responders and the general public.

In 2023 Dave and Michele were called to international ministry in Nicaragua. We have helped with various retreats in the church, outreach, and marriage conferences. We also support leaders in the church in Nicaragua.

Dave and Michele believe in a God who uplifts, delivers and forgives. Our desire is to bring the comfort and hope of Christ to others just as we were comforted. We want to walk alongside others and help them to have a more fulfilling and satisfying relationship with God.
